Strengthening Local DM Practices Through GO-NGO Partnership (SLDPGP)

The project aims to develop and strengthen GO-NGO partnership for accelerating the effective functioning of local level Disaster Management Committees (DMC)s. This objective will be pursued through strategic assessment of capacity and needs, developing technical capacities, bridging NGOs and DMCs, and coordination among various NGOs and agencies at different levels. The project will form, support and strengthen the ‘Network of NGOs” at national level and the ‘Core Groups’ at local level facilitating the effective functioning of DMCs.

Bangladesh is one of the most disaster prone areas in the world where its people have the most risk to disaster. Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Center (BDPC) is implementing a project titled as ‘Reducing Risk to Disaster through Promotion of Rights and Governance (RRDPRG)”, aimed for reducing risk of the people through ensuring rights of the people and establishing   good governance and accountability in the society, funded by Manusher Jonno Foundation. Implementing of various innovative and effective programmes, trainings, meetings and workshops, BDPC has stride for achieving result oriented and visible achievement and improvement in the community. Various social accountability tools have helped to bring out the best outcome. Public Hearing Meeting, Community Score Card, Citizen Charter, Participatory Selection Process are rated very highly by the community. In this document, all the programmes implemented by BDPC in RRDPRG Project are being documented which are presented here.
